Please support the Boroughmuir petition to stop school-hours drinking at adjacent bar

Napier University have applied to have a licensed bar adjacent to the new Boroughmuir High School.  Parent feedback stalled the planning application with an agreement that alcohol would only be sold after school hours. However, Napier have hired top firm Anderson Strathearn to push through an amendment that would allow drinking from 2.00pm onwards.

The decisions that are made now about the new school will shape the environment our children are educated in for many years to come. We would urge you to sign the petition against this change:

Time is of the essence, as the proposal will be discussed on Monday 24th November.

Rising Rolls Presentation: Monday 29th September

Date/Time: 7pm, Mon 29th Sept
Location: School Main Hall

We would like to invite parents and carers to a presentation and Q&A session on future accommodation plans at the school.

The session will provide details of the impact of rising school rolls, the constraints at our school, and the options that exist for dealing with the situation.

The proposed interim solutions will be presented this will address accommodation pressures by August 2015.

We would like to take this opportunity to share the work that the Rising Rolls Working Group has undertaken over the past year but also get feedback and comments from the wider school community.

The Q&A session will be supported by a panel from the Rising Rolls Working Group, including:

  • Mrs Grierson (Headteacher)
  • Crawford McGhee and Robbie Cochrane (Asset Planning Team, City of Edinburgh Council)
  • Craig Hilton and Anna Cuthbert (The Parent Council / Accommodation Group)
  • Margo O’Connor (School Business Manager)

This is an ideal opportunity for parents & carers to ask questions and discuss this complex topic, which is crucial to the future of our school.

We look forward to seeing you on the 29th.

  • Report back to all parents in the school

  • Support the school and pupils during inspections

Parent Council meetings are open to all parents. The last meeting of the Parent Council was on Monday June 9th 2014. The date of the next meeting will be advertised soon. The site includes records of all Parent Council activities, dates of forthcoming events and links to information about the school. The school has it’s official website at South Morningside Primary School and contains a wealth of information about the school and school activities.
